I'm a freelance illustrator and artist, based in a small town in the New Forest nestled by the waters of the Solent. The area is rich with wildlife, ancient heaths, woodlands and with a sky as far as the eye can see. There's inspiration all around!
Just moments from my home are ponds, woods and the wide open forest. As the seasons change, an array of wildlife gently appears - foxes, deer, bats, owls, herons, beautiful birds and butterflies. And a palette of colours, patterns and textures is revealed by the trees, plants and flowers. My art reflects my responses to these sensory connections with nature and the subtle, magical moments we can feel when we slow down and really look at the world around us. These feelings flow through the paints and pencils as I create.
Narratives, folk art and a sense of joy also feature in my work. Our stories and thoughts express who we are and through these we can connect with each other. My love of folk art is rooted in my Polish heritage, with inspiration from other cultural influences and styles - ancient and modern. In a world that can feel heavy, I hope my illustrations bring a little lightness.
Artistic practice: this has developed over many years, with a focus on hand (traditional) illustration and art. I create with drawn, painted and printed processes using a range of materials. I love the tactile, textural qualities of working 'hands on' in this way. And often I'm guided by the paints, pencils and inks which when combined can bring gorgeous effects!
The artwork shared in my portfolio is just a small selection of work from over the years. Commissions and projects have included book illustration, publications, music educational resources and bespoke artwork.

Creative community: I love to share and create art with others. Art is for all ages and for all people. The process of creating art is as important as the end product. Art connects us in so many ways and has a positive effect upon our wellbeing. I've worked with local schools, Beaver groups, families and older adults to support and inspire wonderful art!
Head to my 'Workshops' link for details of sessions I'm currently hosting in collaboration with Southampton City Art Gallery. These are small group, watercolours for wellbeing workshops for adults. They are suitable for beginners or those seeking to build confidence and have fun with their art. Watch this space for future workshop updates.
Work with me: My illustrations are available to be licenced for publication, editorial and more. Please see my 'contact' page to get in touch if you'd like to discuss projects, workshops, commissions or collaborations.
